Hotel Grandis ushers in the festive season with a calendar of delicious dining and fun-filled entertainment throughout Christmas and the New Year to celebrate the most joyous time of the year. As a special highlight of the season. The Hotel’s Tree Lighting Ceremony welcomed the public on 8 December 2017 where the hotel is dressed to impress with holiday decors. The ceremony was held in front of the hotel entrance where bystanders are able to enjoy the beauty of the 8-foot tall Christmas tree. Plenty of bright string lights were strung around the foot of the Christmas tree and on it, adding to the air of festivity.
The Christmas tree lighting was officiated by Hotel Grandis General Manager, Mr. Michael Tan. And he quoted that “Christmas is all about giving and sharing.” and he hopes that the true meaning of the holiday season will fill everyone’s heart with many blessings.
Children and teenagers, aged 10-16, from Care Haven Children Home were invited to the ceremony to experience a taste of the exciting holiday season. Care Haven is an orphanage for the homeless kids and a shelter or home for the needy children located in Likas. The hotel bought Christmas gifts to each of the children and hope that the children will be able to cherish the gifts. The gift-giving is a reminder of the less fortunate during the festive month and inspire the ones who are involved in the programme to exercise the spirit of giving.
The hotel also collaborated with Ascot Academy, where a group of students performed popular Christmas carols to spread the joy of the festive month, to which one of the songs is in Kadazan. As expected, the performance drew out a huge crowd and the hotel was pleased with the turn-out as they have successfully spread the Christmas cheer to those who are present.

To celebrate the holy month of Ramadan, Hotel Grandis hosted a ‘Majlis Berbuka Puasa’ for 35 children, aged 5 to 16, from ‘Sabah Society for the Deaf’ (SSD) – a non-government charitable organisation for deaf persons. The ‘buka puasa’ festivity is a reminder of the less fortunate during this piety month and inspire the ones who are involved in the programme to exercise the spirit of giving.
The cheerful event started with the children joining the adults in a ‘doa selamat’ prayer. After the prayer, the attendees were invited to enjoy the buffet spread prepared by the hotel and the youngsters dined on mouth-watering delicacies.
During dinner, a dance performance by the children from ‘Sabah Society for the Deaf’ was performed and followed by presentation of donation cheque to the principal of SSD, Miss Regina. The donation is a contribution from patrons of the Hotel, collected from the donation box that is being placed at the Hotel lobby.
After dinner, the children were entertained by a clown act, magic shows and balloon animals. The smiling faces and happy laughter of the children gave proof that the event was a success.
The event concluded with the distribution of ‘duit raya’ to the children. Miss Regina, the principal of the SSD centre thanked the hotel for inviting the children over to the hotel, especially during the busiest period of the year. The jubilant event was also supported by Ctrip.com, Perfect Vacation Sdn. Bhd. and Periklanan Unikniaga.

Hotel Grandis team led by the Director of Sales, Miss Evangeline Tseu, paid a visit to Bukit Harapan, a home for disabled individuals and also shelter for victims of abuse, to bring Christmas joy to the shelter home.
The hotel team was greeted by the shelter home residents with a simple Christmas carol and the hotel in return brought Christmas feast to feed the children and staffs of the home. Besides the Christmas feast, the hotel brought along a pair of clowns to entertain the children with magic shows and balloon animals. Also to add on, the hotel donated a total of 29 bags of 5kg rice for home to peruse.
Ms Audra Keyworth, the head of the Home, briefed the hotel staff about the home – located at the Jalan Tuaran ByPass near Kota Kinabalu – and thanked the hotel for visiting the children during the busiest period of the year. The management of Grandis Hotels and Resorts had organized a Blood Donation Campaign in collaboration with Hospital Tuaran on the 19th and 20th of November 2016. The Blood Donation Campaign was held in conjunction with the 2016 ICT Fiesta held in Suria Sabah Shopping Mall with support from the hotel’s co-sponsors, which are Suria Capital Holdings Berhad, Amazing Borneo Tours & Events Sdn. Bhd., Perfect Vacation Sdn. Bhd. and Popular Express Travel Sdn. Bhd.
The initiative is to respond to the need of the dwindling blood reserves and partake as Grandis’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. During the campaign, Grandis Hotels and Resorts offered every successful donor a bag of 5kg rice as a token of appreciation. Many of the hotel’s employees took part in this campaign to help the hospital’s blood bank unit, especially during a season when blood reserves are low. The blood donation campaign received tremendous support from the public as well and the response was positively overwhelming. In return, the hotel has voiced out their intention in conducting more of these campaigns in the future.
The hotel manage to collect 71 pint of blood which will be utilized for greater cause.

A group of employees from Hotel Grandis led by the General Manager, Mr. Michael Tan paid a visit to Bukit Harapan, a home for disabled individuals and also shelter for victims of abuse, to donate bed linens for the residents and carers recently.
Ms Audra Keyworth, the head of the Home, briefed the hotel staff about the home – located at the Jalan Tuaran ByPass near Kota Kinabalu – and brought them on a tour of the facilities to give an insight of the sleeping quarters and day-to-day activities of the residents there.

SSD is the SABAH SOCIETY FOR THE DEAF. It is a non-government charitable organisation in Sabah. It was founded in 1975. The aim is to promote the education, employment, general welfare of deaf persons and to prevent deafness in Sabah.
Guests can lend their support to this programme by donating any amount of money in the hotel’s donation box which is located at the Hotel Grandis Reception Counter. All donation proceeds will be forwarded to the Sabah Society for the Deaf during scheduled visits.

The management of Grandis Hotels and Resorts had organized a Blood Donation Campaign in collaboration with Hospital Queen Elizabeth’s (QEH) Blood Bank and Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) unit on 13th and 14th August 2015.
The initiative is to respond to the need of blood reserves and partake as Grandis’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. The campaign was held with another ulterior motive, which is to spread awareness on health issues, and to work towards achieving the “Blue Ribbon” award. The “Blue Ribbon” award is an award accorded to establishments that integrates efforts towards smoke-free living. Besides the health screening, the NCD unit had given an insightful talk during the campaign, touching topic on the hazards of smoking and benefits of healthy living.
Many of the hotel’s employees took part of this campaign to check their blood glucose and cholesterol level, and also to help QEH, especially during a season when blood reserves are low. The blood donation campaign received tremendous support from the public as well and the response was positively overwhelming. In return, the hotel has voiced out their intention in conducting more of these campaigns in the future.
“More than 60 staffs participated in the campaign and we are glad to see the enthusiastic support for a great cause. Everyone is showing great support and our effort certainly is not limited to this occasion as we will constantly encourage everyone to roll up their sleeves and lend a hand”, says Mr. Michael Tan, Hotel Grandis’ General Manager. The hotel manage to collect 44 pint of blood which will be utilized for greater cause.
